We’re Back From the Future!

“Back to the Future: Decades of Trivia” was another great evening of fun, food, and hard-fought trivia battles! Can you identify the corporate logos that belong to Starbucks or Zillow, or maybe you can identify the song titles from just the first couple of bars of The Monkees’ “Last Train to Clarksville” or The Band’s “The Weight”, or maybe you can recall the name of the long-shot horse that won the 2022 Kentucky Derby?

Well, some people certainly could! The “Smart Alecs” team won the Trivia medals and bragging rights to our Trivia Trophy in the Coronado Center Library.

despite some tough competition!

The Pink Ladies team brought Fifties chic to the table.

Our favorite mistress of ceremonies, Shelly Joyner, was there to guide us through the decades of trivia in her inimitable style.

Local author Cy Holliday returned as our assistant emcee, and did his usual fine job of announcing the winners of the 50/50 drawing and the door prizes!

Keith Sexton, head of POA business development, ably assisted by Larry Zaigler, returned again to judge our competition.

Our technical producer, John Obrien, continued to bring multimedia pizzazz to the proceedings.

Our scoring guru, Barb Truesdell, kept us on the fast track in analyzing all the question responses from the teams.

We had a fabulous selection of silent auction items,

as well as a great selection of door prizes.

And, as usual, we did a brisk business in our 50/50 drawing.

But what makes this event really special are all the teams that come out to support the library! It’s especially true this time, as the evening was dedicated to the memory of Dorothy Lichliter, one of our long-time library patrons who also always donated a Trivia Night table for the enjoyment of other players. A special table (shown here with the blue tablecloth) in her memory was provided for those players who weren’t already on a team.

So here are some candid shots of various teams enjoying themselves:

As always, FOCCL Board members were there to make sure things got done. Vice President Lynne Eshenour even came dressed for her favorite decade!!

And, of course, we couldn’t do this without our many volunteers. They were much too busy to pose for a photo, but here’s a shot of what was left in the kitchen backstage after they were able to grab a bite during their breaks!

Thanks to everyone, and see you in March for our next Trivia Night!
