Our June “Wine & Cheese With the Authors” Went Very Welle!

Our “Wine and Cheese with the Authors” event moved for the first time from our usual location at the Coronado Center to a new venue at the Ponce de Leon Center. Even though the venue changed, we had the same wonderful time, with Village authors and residents talking about books over wine and cheese. Special shout-out to FOCCL Vice President Carol Welle, who chaired the event for the first (but not, we hope, for the last) time! Her co-chair Jaan Kuhlman did her usual wonderful behind-the-scenes job as Welle (oops, sorry, as well)!

FOCCL Vice President Carol Welle
organized our summer “Wine and Cheese with the Authors” event.
FOCCL board member Jaan Kuhlman co-chaired the event.
Dr. Nancy Hendricks kindly donated a copy of her latest book “Sandra Day O’Connor”
to the Coronado Center Library in advance of the event.

and FOCCL Vice President Carol Welle.
Dr. Hendricks’ fellow members of the Arkansa Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution
attended her donation of the book at the library and, later, her talk at our wine and cheese event
.
Ben Bancroft talks about his novel, “The Long Season,” which drew on his own experiences
as a college baseball star and as a successful lawyer
.
Cy Holliday waits his turn to share memories of his wonderful life
growing up in a carnival in his book, “George Bailey’s Got Nothing On Me.”
Melissa Kirk, founder of the Grace Warrior Ministry, shares insights
with the audience about writing and thriving
through adversity as a “grace warrior.”

Watch for our next “Wine & Cheese With the Authors” event and visit the Coronado Center Library where many of these books can be found on our “Local Authors” shelf!
